INTERNET SPEED 8000,000 TIMES INCREASE!

Internet speeds have experienced phenomenal increases in the last two decades. The broadband cables presently available can support speeds of about 30 megabits per second. Now we are witness to another huge break-through. Researchers of (USC) increase the speed of data transmission by 85,000 times by using twisted beams of light to transmit data. Transmission of data can then be carried out at speeds that are up to 2.56 terabits per second!

The data transmission is achieved at ultra-high speed using eight twisted beams of light that are inter-coiled in helical shape, resembling the DNA.Each of the light beams has its own characteristics twist that can be encoded with "1" and "0" data bits. This leads to the data being carried in the form of eight independent data streams. The data can be transmitted through space or in optical cables.
Meanwhile, a team of scientists have achieved faster speeds of data transmission at a rate of 26 terabits per second(800, 000 Times faster  than currently available speeds) on a single laser beam. This was transmitted over a distance of 50km(31 miles). This amount to transferring  an enormous amount of data(that will require 700 DVDs to store) in single second! At this fantastic speed 400 million telephone calls can be made at same time.

 Mobile phones and the Internet:

Browsing the web on mobile phones is becoming more and more common. The first mobile phone with Internet connectivity was the Nokia 9000 Communicator. Japan launched the first mobile Internet service, i-mode, in 1999 and this is considered the birth of the mobile phone Internet services. Developing countries followed, with India, South Africa, Kenya, Philippines, and Pakistan all reporting that the majority of their domestic users accessed the Internet from a mobile phone rather than a PC.

3G (third generation) which offer even faster speeds (384kb/s), letting you download a 3MB file (one song) in about a minute.
When it comes to mobile networks, there are different speeds available. GPRS (128kb/s) is the slowest, and EDGE (236kb/s) is the next step up.
HSDPA sometime called ‘3.5g’ is even quicker - up to 14.4Mb/s so it offers  3.6Mbps, which can download a song in 8.3 seconds.
Here is also a 4g connection speed which includes WiMax and LTE networks. The LTE networks currently tested on UK with speed of 150mb/sec but none are commercially accessible yet.
Speed of internet is increasing day by day. Now the time has  come,  we can download 1GB or more than 1GB data in minutes, not in hours.
